Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk first came to Yalova in 1927 and initially stayed in a tent at the Baltacı Farm he had purchased. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who loved the city very much, passed through Yalova on August 21, 1929, on his way to a visit to Bursa. Arriving in the city aboard the Ertuğrul Yacht, Atatürk's attention was drawn to a large plane tree in the Millet Farm near Yalova pier.

Impressed by the sight of the plane tree, Atatürk ordered the yacht to be stopped. The boat was used to reach the shore. After resting for a while in the shade of the tree, Atatürk gave the order to build a pavilion near the majestic plane tree.

The construction of the pavilion, which began on August 21, 1929, was completed in 22 days, on September 12.
